First things first. We can serve as your neutral sounding board when considering new opportunities and how they impact your overall financial plan.
A higher salary doesn’t always mean you pocket more. Be sure to consider:
- Medical/dental coverage: is the coverage on equal ground with similar out of pocket costs? When does coverage begin?
- The availability of a retirement plan, the vesting period and company match.
- Does the company offer both long-term and short-term disability coverage to protect your income?
- Are stock options included? A sign-on bonus? Education expense allowance?
- What is the flexibility around maternity/paternity time or paid leave when a family medical situation arises?
- Location. Location. Location. Will a change mean an increase in travel expenses? Are you able to work remotely if/when needed?
