No one is immune to fraud attempts: myself included.

Our household credit card is intentionally set so I receive text notifications for each purchase.

A week before my birthday last year, I received a text notification about a purchase made at Best Buy. How exciting! Maybe a new iPad or headphones were on the receipt...

One of the downsides of receiving text notifications is that I see EVERY purchase (which often creates some fun banter - "oh, I see you had lunch at Panera today while I ate a PB&J").

As I was practicing my "I had no idea you were shopping at Best Buy for me" look, I paused. Donna never shops at Best Buy and we really don't need any new tech devices or toys from there. Big red flags.

Once I confirmed she, indeed, did not buy anything at Best Buy, I called my credit card company to flag the purchase. They immediately deactivated our credit cards and filed a fraud report.

As a household, our only inconvenience was waiting three days for our new cards to arrive. There was no lost sleep, stress or anxiety over an attempted fraudulent purchase because our credit reports are frozenCan you say the same if this happened to you?
